We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Our chairside staff is composed entirely of Certified Dental Assistants, and each member of our team has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.
Angela has been with us for the past five years – luckily, the military has allowed her to stay in Alaska this long (and hopefully a lot longer!). She works mainly in the chairside/clinical area, but she also fills in at the front desk and in our laboratory area. She's our assistant most in tune with the "teen scene". Her secondary job is to keep us up to date on the latest texting technology and anything hip!
Cindy is the long-term veteran of the front reception desk. She has been in that position for many years, and can answer most of your questions regarding insurance, contracts and appointments. She has seen three of her children, as well as herself, go through braces – so she can also relate to clinical problems or concerns from your perspective!
Dayna is our "newbie" at the front reception desk. You may be surprised to hear that she has been with us for only a year! If you have interacted with her, you probably think that she has been here for many years – she's just a quick learner! Although she and Cindy work together as a team, she is the person to call if you have questions about your appointments. She has a son in a Herbst appliance, so she's your go-to person for all questions in that regard!
Janel is the calming force of the office! She works mainly in the chairside/clinical area, but is often working in the laboratory. She also fills in at the front desk and she is usually the clinical assistant who is here on Fridays to take care of any of those pre-weekend pokey wires! Again, she is always calm and collected: the perfect person to take care of any problems before the weekend. She's also a marathon runner, so good luck keeping up with her!
Kristina has been with our office for 11 years. She started out sterilizing our instruments as a high school senior, but soon progressed into a full-time clinical assistant. While working full time, she continued her schooling and graduated with a BA in History from UAA in 2003. Throughout Kristina's career, she has worked in almost every job capacity. She is good at all positions, but prefers the variety and interaction of the clinical setting. You will see her most days in the chairside/clinical area, but don't be surprised to see her filling in at the front desk or as a Treatment Coordinator. As many of you know, we go a little crazy at Halloween. Kristina usually gets the job of costume designer and decorator – she wears many hats!
Pamela has been in the position of Treatment Coordinator for the past nine years. Her job is to help Dr. Julien gather and record information about our new patients and their ultimate treatment plans. Once we determine that you and your child are ready to begin active treatment, she explains the treatment process, financing options, insurance contributions and appointment sequencing. If we decide to wait and watch before beginning any treatment, she will contact you at the appropriate time. She also relays information to your dentist so that we can work with them to complement any dental treatment that they have planned. Since she has worked so closely with Dr. Julien for so many years, she can provide answers to many of your questions in regard to timing and treatment sequence. She has a wealth of knowledge, so remember her name! Watch out, though – she has an identical twin in Anchorage who gives blank stares when strangers ask her about braces!
Steve is our Office Manager and handles any situation that is out of the ordinary. He is also our “IT department", dealing with our ever-expanding computer network. He is in the office on a limited basis, working mainly over the phone or online.
Krissy is a new face in the clinical area. She may be new to our office, but she has an extensive dental and orthodontic background. She has been working as a chairside orthodontic assistant for 35 years (you wouldn't believe it from looking at her!). We have all benefited from her experience and broad base of knowledge.
